Brad Faxon, PGA

Brad Faxon was raised nearby in Barrington, Rhode Island and graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Economics degree in 1983. He was a two-time All-American at Furman and received the Haskins Award as the top collegiate golfer in his senior year. Prior to turning professional in 1983, Brad represented the United States in the Walker Cup Arguably one of the best pure putters in the history of golf, Brad won 15 professional events and played on 1995 and 1997 Ryder Cup teams. Long recognized as one of the most respected players in the game, Brad received the 1999 Golf Writers Association of America’s Charlie Bartlett Award, given to professional golfers for unselfish contributions to society. In 2005 Brad received the Payne Stewart Award for his outstanding character, sportsmanship and charity. Long recognized as a student and expert in the game, Brad currently works as a Golf Analyst.
Steve Napoli, PGA
Steve Napoli is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Business Administration and was elected to PGA membership in September of 1979. The majority of his career was spent at Wannamoisett Country Club, site of the 1931 PGA Championship and the Northeast Amateur Championship. Most recently, Steve served as the Director of Golf at Liberty National and later as General Manager. He was named by “Golf Digest” as the top teacher in Rhode Island and has been recognized by US Kids for having one of the top 100 Junior Golf Programs in the country.
Elected President of the New England PGA in 1999, he was later appointed to the Board of Control of the PGA of America. He also served four terms as President of the John P. Burke Memorial Fund, currently is on the board at ButtonHole and has been a member of the Titleist Leadership Advisory Staff for 37 years.
Steve was recognized by the New England PGA as its Professional of the Year in 1992, Bill Strausbaugh Award in 1998 and Youth Player Development Award in 2010. He also received the National PGA of America Bill Strausbaugh Award in 2003 for his role in mentoring youth, fellow golf professionals, and for community service. He was inducted into the New England PGA Hall of Fame in October of 2013 and currently is a member of the Rhode Island Golf Association’s Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
CJ Talbert, PGA
Head Golf Professional
A 1995 graduate of the Southern Illinois University with a degree in Small Business Management, CJ has been the head professional at Metacomet since 2006. Prior to arriving at Metacomet CJ served as the Head Professional at El Paso Country Club in El Paso, Texas and as the First Assistant Professional at the renowned North Shore Country Club in Glenview Illinois. He brings diverse experience and offers high-level golf instruction at Metacomet having coached several tour players and many top amateurs including JP Hayes, Arjun Atwal, Chris Baryla and Christi Albers. Outside of golf his hobbies include hockey, skiing and exercise. CJ lives in Barrington, Rhode Island with his wife Laura and daughter Lila, sons Jobson and Jett.
Assistant Golf Professional
Matt was born and raised in Riverside, Rhode Island. He is in his second year as an assistant golf professional at Metacomet and his seventh year in the golf industry. Matt is a 2006 graduate of Springfield College with a Bachelors Degree in Education and a 2010 graduate of The Golf Academy of America with an Associates in Golf Complex Operations and Management. Matt and his wife Sarah live in East Providence with their daughter, Isla and son, James.
